My Team Lost
Well the weekend was pretty disappointing. My team, the Sydney Swans, lost in the first week of finals. They have come from behind to win a few times this year but it was not to be this time. Sport can be cruel at time and more so for the players. I have enjoyed a few terrific weekends watching my favourite team playing my favourite sport but for the players it is what they do. I can only imagine how devastated and disappointed they must be feeling.
A Sore Foot
I have been so enjoying my walks that I have done some injury to my foot. It feels like a tendonitis as I have the same thing in my shoulder. I have had it before in my shoulder and got it back to pain free with the help of a wonderful Physio-therapist. I have been holding off going again because of COVID and the fact that we are still in lockdown. But it a bit of a bummer not being able to take my usual walks.
Making Myself Useful
I have been volunteering my time at Wildlife ARC an organisation for rescuing and rehabilitating native wildlife on the Central Coast of NSW. It is getting to be a busy time of the year leading into spring. It is very rewarding.
Also rewarding is the poll results in todays papers that show a large majority of electors who believe we have to act on climate change. After the pandemic this is the most important issue to face human kind. Australia must act fast to stabilise temperature increases to the levels agreed by the Paris Convention and transition away from coal and gas. Even then we are going to have to adapt to some climatic changes. We must do all we can to do things like saving the Great Barrier Reel and habitat adaption for native species. We have to do this running. We cannot afford to dawdle.
